This guide shows you how to create dynamic, personalized videos with Sendspark that automatically update with recipient information when sent through Woodpecker campaigns.

What You'll Accomplish

By the end of this setup, your videos will automatically display each recipient's name and company information, creating personalized experiences at scale. For example, a video saying "Hey there" will automatically become "Hey Bethany" or "Hey Brandon" for each viewer.

Prerequisites

  • Active Sendspark account

  • Active Woodpecker account

  • Contact data in Woodpecker with first names and company information

Step 1: Upload Your Video to Sendspark

  1. Record or upload your video to your Sendspark workspace

  2. Navigate to your video's page to begin editing

Note: All branding elements (logo, colors, styles) can be customized to match your company's brand instead of using Sendspark defaults.

Step 2: Add Dynamic Personalization

  1. On your video page, click Customize

  2. Add merge tags like ###{{first_name}} and ###{{company_name}} in these areas:

    • Header text - appears above the video

    • Message area - appears below the video

    • Call-to-action button - customize button text

  3. Set up fallback text for cases where contact data is missing (e.g., "Schedule demo with me" instead of "Schedule demo ###{{first_name}}")

Tip: When you use these merge tags in Sendspark, they'll automatically pull the corresponding contact data from Woodpecker when the video is viewed.

Step 3: Customize Your Video Thumbnail

  1. Navigate to the thumbnail editor

  2. Add text overlay with personalization tags

  3. Include engaging text that will drive email opens

Why this matters: The thumbnail is the first thing recipients see in their email, making it crucial for driving engagement.

Step 4: Add Video to Your Woodpecker Campaign

  1. Copy the Woodpecker snippet from your Sendspark video page

  2. In Woodpecker, paste the snippet into your email template

  3. Adjust spacing as needed by adding or removing line breaks

Customization Options

Change Default Link Text

If you want to modify the "Watch video on Sendspark" text that appears below thumbnails:

  • Edit directly in the email template, or

  • Update the default in your Sendspark workspace settings

Available Merge Tags

You can use any merge tags that correspond to fields in your Woodpecker contact data, including:

  • ###{{first_name}}

  • ###{{company_name}}

  • Any custom fields you've set up in Woodpecker
