Sending personalized videos through LinkedIn messages can significantly boost engagement. This guide walks you through the process of using Lemlist to send dynamic video messages effectively.

🔧 Prerequisites

  • A Lemlist account

  • A list of leads in CSV format

  • LinkedIn profiles for each lead

🧩 Step 1: Upload and Map Your CSV

  1. Go to your Lemlist campaign.

  2. Click the button to upload your CSV file.

  3. During the mapping step, make sure to:

    • Map the LinkedIn Profile URL to the unique ID field.

    • Optionally, set a custom background using the LinkedIn profile or a custom image URL.

💡 Make sure to connect your LinkedIn account within Lemlist first so it can use LinkedIn profile backgrounds.

🎥 Step 2: Export Generated Videos

  1. After video generation, click Export Generated Videos.

  2. A new CSV file will be downloaded, including a video link column for each contact.

💬 Step 3: Prepare Your LinkedIn Message

  1. Go to the campaign editor in Lemlist.

  2. Add a custom variable:

    • Click on Add Variables → Custom Variable.

    • Name it something like video_link.

    • Click Save.

  3. Compose your message using the variable:

    Hey [First Name], I created a video for you. Be sure to check it out: {{video_link}}

🛑 Important:
If you're not already connected with the recipient on LinkedIn:

  • Do not send the video in your initial connection request.

  • Instead, send it as a follow-up message after the connection is accepted.

LinkedIn blocks previews and images in first messages to users you're not connected with.

📂 Step 4: Import Leads into Lemlist

  1. Go to your lead list in Lemlist.

  2. Click Import → CSV File Import.

  3. Upload the CSV you downloaded earlier (with the video link column).

  4. During mapping:

    • Toggle off any unnecessary fields.

    • Map video_link to your custom variable.

    • Map unique ID to the LinkedIn Profile URL.

    • Adjust other fields (e.g., map contact name to first name).

🚀 Step 5: Launch Your Campaign

  • Once the mapping is complete and your variables are properly set, launch the campaign.

  • Lemlist will automatically insert the video link and LinkedIn will generate a video preview when sent (as long as it's a follow-up message to a connection).
