1. Cold Outreach Best Practices

  • Keep videos short and concise – 30 to 45 seconds is ideal, with a maximum of 1 minute.

    • Skip the “who you are” intro unless it's highly relevant.

  • Thumbnail - GIFs can help increase engagement so start your video with some movement like an inviting wave to the camera 🤓

  • The second touchpoint is the best place to introduce video – use video in your second email to help warm up the domain and improve deliverability.

  • Email Copy - Doesn’t need to be super text-heavy. Make it engaging. You still want to give context, but you can use it as a teaser to spark curiosity and encourage recipients to watch the video.

  • Subject Lines - create subject lines that are short, personalized, and include the word "video" to boost curiosity and open rates.

    • "Quick video for you, [First Name]"

    • "[First Name], this video is just for you"

    • "Saw this and thought of you – video inside"

2. Creating Engaging & Effective Videos

  • Scripts - Leverage Sendspark’s script generator and teleprompter to craft clear, concise messages.

  • Use 'you' statements - make your video feel more personalized. Instead of saying 'I wanted to share this,' try 'This could be really helpful for you because...' to keep the focus on your prospect.

  • Video Landing Page - Customize & personalize the page using templates to save time.

    • Templates give you the option to embed your calendar directly onto the landing page, making it easier for your prospect to book a call without interrupting your video.

  • Make eye contact with the camera - This builds trust and makes the video feel more like a conversation with your prospect

3. Choosing the Right Video Style

  • Lip-Sync - (Works Best with Dynamic Backgrounds)

    • If using lip-sync V-2, pair it with a dynamic background for the best results.

  • Camera-Only (No Dynamic Background) – How to Make It Work:

    • Try the waving hand trick or mic placement in front of your face to mask any minor lip-sync mismatches. (Waving also makes for an awesome GIF image!)

    • While you don’t need a background, having your prospect’s website behind you can increase engagement by sparking curiosity and driving higher open rates.

  • Using a Virtual Background

    • You can add a virtual background to create a professional or fun look. (hide your comfy bed in the background 🤪)

  • Combining Videos for Maximum Impact

    • Whether the first video is face-only or features the prospect’s website as the background, two videos can be combined into one video.

    • The first video can be a personalized introduction, while the second showcases a high-impact visual, such as a dashboard, demo, or key-value prop feature.

    • This approach balances personal connection with valuable insights, making outreach more engaging, effective, and persuasive.

4. Scaling & Automating Video Outreach

  • Even when scaling outreach, segment your audience to add another layer of personalization. Grouping prospects by industry, role, or pain points allows for more tailored messaging and higher engagement.

  • For larger-scale outreach, automation is key!

  • Sendspark integrates with Zapier, Make, Clay, and HubSpot, allowing you to automate video creation and distribution within your existing workflows.

  • Alternatively, you can use our new Automated Workflows feature, which enables dynamic video generation without third-party tools.

    • This feature is currently in beta, and there is a waiting list to join.

  • Use automation to:

    • Generate dynamic videos automatically

    • Automate video distribution

    • Improve efficiency without sacrificing personalization
